SBI online customer Protect your money check these five points you must follow for safe netbanking

State Bank of India (SBI) recently shared how its customers can practice safe internet banking and stay free of fraud and unexplained losses. The country's largest public sector bank has said that customers should be cautious in the wake of increasing frauds. Banking frauds are being reported not just in online transactions but also through ATMs. In a tweet, SBI advised its customers to keep their account and money safe. Here are the steps SBI has suggested to its customers:

1. Accessing SBI website: The public lender says you should access the bank's website only by typing the URL in the address bar of your browser. Also, avoid accessing your internet banking account from cyber cafes or shared PCs.

2. Downloading app: The bank warns against downloading any malicious application from mobile application stores (Google Play store, Apple App Store, Blackberry App World, Ovi Store, Windows Marketplace etc.) that are offering Online Banking. You should check their authenticity before downloading. For this, you can also contact your bank.

3. Clicking on links: SBI says you should not click on any links in any e-mail message to access the site.

4. Responding to emails/SMS/calls: The State Bank of India says any of its representatives never send email/SMS or calls customers over the phone to get their personal information, password or one time SMS (high security) password. It warns, "Any such e-mail/SMS or phone call is an attempt to fraudulently withdraw money from your account through Internet Banking. Never respond to such email/SMS or phone call."

Further, you should report immediately on report.phishing @sbi.co.in if you receive any such e-mail/SMS or Phone call. In case, if you have accidentally revealed your credentials, lock your user access immediately.

The bank has warned against getting lured on receive an e-mail/SMS/phone call promising reward for providing your personal information or for updating your account details in the bank site.

5. Sharing card details: SBI says that you will not be asked to provide your username and login password again after logging in. The bank will also never ask you to provide your CREDIT or DEBIT CARD details while using internet banking. In case you get a message (such as through a pop-up) asking for such information, the suggests not to provide this information under any circumstances, irrespective of 'genuine' the webpage appears to you.

SBI says, "Such pop-ups are most likely the result of malwares infecting your computer. Please take immediate steps to disinfect your device."
